Hello! Welcome to Global Arts Plus Upper Campus! I’m thrilled to be a part of the GAPU community as the Reading Specialist.

This is my fourth year at GAPU as the SIPPS Reading Specialist. In St. Paul Public Schools I’ve also taught: Grades K-3, Academic Specialist for Grades K-6, Gifted Talented Specialist for Grades K-6, and as a Creative & Critical Thinking Specialist for Grades K-6.. I’ve had the opportunity to teach in Puerto Rico, work in Nicaragua through a University of Minnesota Fellowship, and in Namibia as a Fulbright Fellow.

The goal of the SIPPS Reading Strategies class is to support middle school students in becoming fluent, independent readers who read with accuracy and automaticity. It’s tremendous to work with students and be part of their reading development, as it opens up their connections within themselves and to the world!

My family and I live in St. Paul. We delight in being with family and friends, love living close to rivers and lakes, and being active outside as often as possible.

I look forward to teaching and learning with your reader and working together to make this a great year!

All the Best,

MT Traecy McJilton “Ms. Traecy”
