Wittmann, Amy
Hello Students and Families,
My name is Amy Wittmann and I teach third grade at this amazing school. I absolutely LOVE what I do. I have worked with children since the young age of ten years old. My mother is an early childhood educator and leader and her passion and excitement for this career path was my inspiration!
This is my 23rd year teaching in the Saint Paul School District. I began my teaching career as a substitute teacher for three years in SPPS. In 2004, I landed my first official position as a first grade teacher at Paul and Sheila Wellstone Elementary. I was at Wellstone for eight years when I got the opportunity to teach Science at Global Arts Plus in 2012. From the science room, I transitioned back into the classroom in 2016. This will be my eighth year teaching third grade and I absolutely LOVE IT! Third Grade Rocks!
I have lived in Minnesota my whole life. I attended Central Lakes College in Brainerd, where I received my undergraduate degree. I then attended Bemidji State University where I received my degree in Elementary Education. I continued my education shortly after at Saint Mary's University, where I received my Masters in Education degree. I am currently taking classes online through Learner's Edge, Augustana University, to further my educational knowledge.
My husband Tony and I have been married for 18 years and we share a beautiful daughter, who is an eighth grader at Global Arts Plus Upper. We also have a "zoo" at our house. We have two 8-year-old rescued tabby cats named Milo and Elsa. We have a 6-year-old silver lab named Lucy, we have a turtle named Shelly and a crested gecko named Coco. Coco is actually our classroom pet! Hopefully, Coco will be able to join us in the classroom this year. Stay tuned!
When I am not teaching, I enjoy watching movies with my family, snuggling with my cats, practicing yoga and pilates, walking, sewing, gardening, and riding my bicycle. Believe it or not, I actually enjoy doing laundry as well!
I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child this year. We will learn so much, make many memories, and grow faster than you can blink. We will make mistakes, learn, and grow together every step of the way. Enjoy every moment of your school year.
Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
Warmly,
Ms. Amy Wittmann
